Busy Izzie

OK so finally we are excited to announce that the looong awaited Tokyo Witch Hunt album 'Eclectic Electric' has been put out to digital release on 17th December ahead of Christmas.

We are not anticipating that there will be a  physical release in CD form just yet, but we will keep you informed if that changes and announce it properly before the release date.

The Album will be available at major digital stores including iTunes for their regular prices.

We can confirm that there are now 13 songs and they will also sell separately for those of you who prefer to buy this way.

There will be a press release shortly announcing a  link to our iTunes page and others.

Izzie is also heavily involved in two other collaborative projects in which she features as lyricist and vocalist: a full album with Mark Sheppard of Cambridge based eclectic band, The Offering which will eventually be released on Fierce Kitten Records....and a  remix of a  chart topping dance track (which we can't yet divulge) handled by All Over It Records who deal with underground House music but  it already has interest from quite a big record label (again, sorry but we need to keep this quiet).
So...busy busy busy.. Watch this space!

Waiting waiting for the 17th!!!!

The Pre Christmas TWH Shennanigans

Well, here we go with stuff that is happening or going to happen with Tokyo Witch Hunt over the next few weeks.

Firstly, we are taking a break after the next gig from live gigging to concentrate time into other exciting things.

Not that Crash and I aren't entirely capable of holding the gigging fort between us temporarily until we find a  third person to be on stage with us, but we are actively now seeking another backing singer and keyboard player to replace Nina during the Xmas period in time for February when we will be back with some great, fresh shows.

Also during that time we will release the much promised, and now finished TWH album which no longer has a working title but will be released as 'Eclectic Electric'. It has 13 tracks, includes dancey favourites like 'Lightshow', 'Fast Lane', some much more moody new material like 'Hours And Days' and 'The Ground', a   disco dancefloor collaboration between Crash and myself in the form of 'Girl Star' and 'Electricity remix' of 'Burn Down'. We are excited now...and once the artwork is finalised, it will go into iTunes and other digital stores.

I have also avidly begun collaborative work in the form of an EP with the highly talented Mark Sheppard  of multi genre Cambridge band The Offering. Mark is also currently working on other projects with Robin George (Thin Lizzy) and Angie Brown. This is proving to be seriously exciting stuff and very different really from TWH...and if anybody else mentions The Creatures again I will kick a wall. Awesomely good stuff so watch out !!
Catch you soon.

Polish Club Concert and Other Important News

  • How time flies...we had been so looking forward to the long awaited home gig at the Polish Club in Barnsley for weeks and it was SMOKING on Saturday..'the crowd were just awesome'.
Terrornation, who should have headlined the night unfortunately pulled from the gig 2  days before (due to a hand injury, we believe), leaving TWH to fill the entire night- and boy did we have fun?
Intense fog, lights, lasers, neon and much bopping from the crowd- and yes, Izzie's 190 year old Dickensian top hat made an appearance throughout the second half of the set,and  was cautiously, but eagerly bandied around the fans for photographs afterwards.
The appearance was, according to izzie,  '..to mark the anniversary of the year of Dickens' birth in 1812'.  Charles Dickens lived for a time and died in Rochester, Kent, the historically steeped tiny city where Izzie lived for a time.

There are a lot of photographs to come in from friends and fans from the halloween induced night. The entire gig was filmed by the venue and we're hoping for an official review so there'll be tonnes of stuff for you to see soon. Huge thanks to Nikki Szkliniarz for organising the event, our sound technician who did a superb job, the members and landlord of the Polish Club for welcoming us in, and, once again, a wonderful audience. We have already been invited back, so watch this space.

  • Sadly though, we bring you news (although it was no secret) that Nina Sherrard has now left us due to increased workload and difficult shift arrangements. We wish her all the best. We are, of course now searching for someone to take her place to cover backing vocals and incidental keyboards, but we will fulfill existing gigs and continue to arrange new live dates as a two piece in the meanwhile.

  • Dealings with the upcoming album are now also back in full swing and we hope to get that to you in time for Christmas.

  • We are now in possession of TWH hoodies which are black with white Rhinestone lettering (diamond effect stones) ('Tokyo Witch Hunt' on the front, 'TWH' on the left sleeve and www.tokyowitchhunt.com' on the back. Price is 25.00. If you would like to order one, please get in touch via contact@tokyowitchhunt.com . T shirts will be discussed soon.

Catch you soon,

The Last Gig and The Next

Last friday we played Redhouse in Sheffield for a  record label. We had a  good slot behind the headliners. No-one told us (even when we were there) that the headliners had pulled out the day before. No-one spoke to us even. We took a  few people who waited around for several hours to see us but had to go home on public transport before our slot because the previous bands were running so late. So we played to a  diminished crowd with good reception. Ah the trials and tribulations.

NEXT
This coming Saturday, we play the first gig we've played for a  long while to a  home crowd and we're excited. It's halloween weekend and the venue have it as a goth night. Slightly out of character musically for us but it's looking like it might be a good un! Polish Club, Summer lane, Barnsley- we can't wait!

The TWH Fanmail

 Hi Guys,
Just a  quickie today to let you know we're still here. If things seem quiet your end, you should be at OUR end! We are busy renaming and rebranding everything we have and everywhere we have a  presence. It's taking time because we are everywhere!

No fear though, we have gigs- and  will appear at Redhouse on October 19th in Sheffield and then our first hometown gig in Barnsley at Polish Club on 27th welcomes us, and our new name, with a Foam Party and whacking great halloweenish merriment ! We hope to see loads of you at both events.

The album has been put back (yes we know, AGAIN) to December- but that will make a  great stocking filler!

In the meantime, don't forget to visit (and 'Like') our facebook page at www.facebook.com/tokyowitchhunt .
Catch you very soon,

Fighting with lawnmowers

Izzie's had The Chop. Got naffed off with long hair and done the deed.

Bom Bom Bom Bom

So- Bomfest campers and crew night actually went rather well last weekend, despite the horrendous mud problem which meant carting all the gear by hand up the looong, muddy path and negotiating around a  very boggy field. It did stop raining in time for our set which was much later than planned because of said weather- Bigsound marquee was suitably festivally decked up, and people came in to dance.

Any techical problems we had have now been ironed out and everything ran like a dream. Good night had by all, though we were all frozen by the time we scurried home, in time for a  couple of hours' heads down- ready to go back to enjoy the actual festival on Saturday....in SUN!

Hoping for another slot next year- and huge thanks to BOMFest organisers who (a  week on) STILL haven't been able to get the marquees down because of the mud :( Cups of tea in order, probably!

BOMFest pre fest campers/crew gig tomorrow!

Yes, Tokyo Witch Hunt are playing for those brave enough to camp during the festival and those who keep everything running smoothly. Our time is unconfirmed as yet. Catch you tomorrow at Worsbrough Country Park BOMFest in the Bigsound tent.

Tokyo Witch Hunt

So, it is official, in a sort of half way through fashion that we are no longer Eyes/Lips. We will fulfil any existing gigs which were booked as such, but as time progresses, promotion will only be carried out to 'big up' our new guise as Tokyo Witch Hunt.
Nothing else will change- the music is still the same and the upcoming album still will have the 13 songs as planned, the band is still the same.
Things that will change are: The website is already purchased and waiting for me to finish and send it live at www.tokyowitchhunt.com , facebook is already there for you to use at www.facebook.com/tokyowitchhunt and Twitter is now at www.twitter.com/tokyowitchhunt . If any of you would like us to appear anywhere else now, either online or at gigs, you only have to shout ;)

PLEASE NOTE: Bradford 1 in 12 gig Cancelled by promoters

Having had Sunday's gig at Bradford's 1 in 12 Club organised since June 3rd, and after I have had to do some chasing to find out details, the promoters HAVE now finally got back to me to tell us , 2 days before the event, that Sunday (not Saturday or Monday) is cancelled.

They did offer us tomorrow instead but that is neither any good for us at this stage, or you guys who had said you were coming to see us on Sunday.

All we can do is offer our huge apologies- and buy you a  drink when we see you next Saturday (1st Sept) at South Seas in Broomhill, Sheffield.  Eyes/Lips xx

Running On (mark 2)

So to follow up on last week's attempt at getting back to cross-training (running) after 18 months of non action with what seemed to be a permanently damaged quad (where it disappears into my knee), today was something of a  turning point, I think.
Reaching 9.27 km in 1 hr 8 mins is something that I never dreamt possible after the daily pain I've had, just walking - It's not olympic stuff, I know that- and it's not yet as fast as I used to go...but here we are, and I'm ecstatic.
What's more, I can sprint, if I'm careful - AND, best of all, I can  spar properly, it seems (on a  good day) at speed too- so at last I'm starting to feel like I'm getting the old me back. There is a smile creeping across the face of someone who's been a  bit of a  miserable t*** of late :)

Standalone Collaborative Club Single Announced.

We're excited to announce the completion of a standalone Eyes/Lips club single with instrumentals from CrAsh and vocals/final production from Izzie. It's not yet certain when this will be released, but it is a really blistering addition to the already outstanding set of tracks we have lined up to hit iTunes on October 1st. Watch out for further updates!

Nina's back!

We did one gig with Nina, who is our brilliant new 2nd vocalist and synth player, before she jetted off to go diving for 5 weeks in Honduras!! (No, we're not even just a  little bit jealous). Anyway- she's back, and we're very glad about it. Now we can do some killer 3  piece gigs again :)
Izz

Running On... (at last)

Well, I figured if CrAsh can have his own blog, so can I, so this is the first of something that will probably bore you to tears...but hopefully not.

Last March I damaged my knee when I was training (Kickboxing), and since, it's been kind of up and down but a  lot of days I've had pain and not been able to bear weight on it
until about 2 months ago (but still been instructing).

Finally- a Physio's come to my rescue, and I'm starting to cross train just a  little bit. Wednesday I managed 6 km on the treadmill- today, 8.2km- so I'm just a  little bit chuffed and had to share it with you.

Tommorrow, I think I might ache :/

ALBUM RELEASE DATE REVEALED

October 1st will bring the release of the new Eyes/Lips 12 track album, 'Searchlight' and will see it delivered to iTunes and many other major digital stores.

There will be a limited number of CDs produced with full covers which will be on sale at gig dates.
Keep checking back of details of how to secure your copy.

Searchlight' is to be released shortly followed by a series of 'instrumentally rich' remixed singles..

Following a wait while we decided if we were happy with the production and urges by fans to 'get on with it', the response to the initial 'media test' where the album was promoted to radio and other press for review had been so promising that a decision had to be made not to delay things any further.

Izzie reports that "now we've decided to get on with things, we're really excited to see the response this gets and looking forward to more reviews and feedback."

Fans will also be pleased to know that Izzie is currently working on a number of club remixes of some of the album tracks to be released later this year.

A Free download (produced in just 3 days)

August 2nd brought Eyes/Lips a new exciting release aimed at free downloading for everyone.
'Dry Heat (Crystal Mirage mix)' features Izzie and CrAsh in a rare bass guitar duet, with Izzie providing numerous other bass, guitar and synth parts as well as some superb vocal delivery.

Izzie's intention was to record and mix the song, (which has been played live a handful of times to powerful reception) at Eyes/Lips HQ, from scratch and have it produced and uploaded within 3 days.

Countdown began on Facebook on Izzie's profile and on Eyes/Lips' Twitter yesterday teatime to friends' bemusement, posting simply '10' '9' '8' at intervals as the night drew in.  '2' was posted with an explanation, and 0 delivered an upload of the song, on time, at 11pm to those who had followed it.

'Dry Heat (Crystal Mirage)' is available for anyone to download for free and, Izzie says, is the first of 2 such ventures leading to upcoming live home dates at BomFest pre event party (21st September) and in particular, Eyes/Lips' appearance at 'After Dusk', Polish Club, Barnsley the weekend of Halloween.

Hi All.
Just like to say hello to you and let you know who we are.
We're in Barnsley, Sheffield and Wakefield (but officially Sheffield)- a three piece band gigging live, female fronted 'electronica' where ever we can .
I, (izzie) write, record and produce all the songs in the studio and then we go and prance about on stage every so often in front of anyone who will see us and give 'em a wicked show which is hopefully just a  bit out of the ordinary, pretty tight and some fun .
With some luck (but we are new at this thing) , we hope to keep some kind of blog letting people know what we're up to..and maybe might even see one or two of you when we're out and about doing our thing.
There are some things to catch up, so we'll try and update you.

Eyes/Lips 'Live' is:

Izzie Kirk: Vocals, guitar, synth & samples, sequencing.
'CrAsh' Barwick: Electric Bass, synth
Nina Sherrard: second vocal, synth.
